For its 40th anniversary, the UP Sigma Alpha Nu Sorority embarked on a legacy project. Part of the principles of the sorority is Social Awareness and Nationalism. Because of this, the sorority deemed it important to give back to the community and help the poorest sectors of the country. In partnership with Project Malasakit, Sigma Alpha Nu built a daycare center for a remote mountain community of the Mangyan tribe in Sitio Magod. The travel to this remote community is treacherous, having to cross rivers and rough mountain terrain. But with compassion and a clear sense of mission… the women of Sigma Alpha Nu Sorority pushed thru with the project and help bring the light of education to the children of Sitio Magod, Bansud, Mindoro Oriental
