Rotary Club in Australia partners with Project Malasakit

Giving light to the darkest and isolated parts of the Philippines, this was Project Malasakit’s mission for the year 2016.

Project Malasakit provided Solar Power Lighting Facilities to two remote villages in Mindoro province. Sitio Dyangdang and Sitio Labo both in the municipality of Bansud, Mindoro Oriental both lack access to basic government services. One has to walk hours and cross treacherous rivers to get to these isolated areas inhabited by the Mangyan tribe. Because of this, the Mangyan tribe in both sitios do not have access to electricity and potable water.

Thru the help of our donors, including the Rotary Club of Walkerville in Adelaide, Australia, our Project Malasakit Team trekked mountains and crossed rivers to reach these isolated villages and provided them with solar power as well as a portable solar-powered water filtering facility.
