. The Dumagats are the early inhabitants of the province. They are skilled divers and fishermen. Unfortunately, with the advent of commercial fishing, many Dumagats have found it very difficult to sustain their livelihood. Majority of Dumagat families are poor and most of them are illiterate. Redentor used to dive for octopus and other sea creatures to have enough money for school allowance. He was featured in the Iwitness documentary “Galamay ng Karagatan”
