Joshua lives in the mountains of Agusan del Sur. He plants falcatta trees and harvests these with his family to sell to various wood factories.


Falcatta trees are fast-growing trees that are propagated by the Department of Environment for various purposes. Joshua has been a child laborer since he was 7 years old. His life struggles were featured in the Iwitness Documentary Isang Bote ng Binhi (September 2013).

He has graduated from elementary and has moved on to high school. He has opted out of the scholarship program.
