Charlie was a former child laborer. He was featured in the Iwitness documentary “Pulot-Pukyutan” about a small community in Abra whose main livelihood is to gather honey from the forest.

Honey gathering is a dangerous job, one can get very painful bee stings. But Charlie and his brother Edrian need to endure this to be able to have enough money to send themselves to school. Charlie is an honor student from elementary to high school. Since 2014, Project Malasakit has taken both brothers as scholars. As of 2019, Charlie has graduated from BS Criminology and has also passed the Board Exams. He is now applying to train in a police academy. His perseverance and determination to succeed was featured in the documentary Sa Mata ng Bata. Link here >>
